“Without the support of our donors we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. We change hundreds of lives here; of our patients and of their friends and families. Thank you so much to all of you that make this possible.”

What could your money do? Donate now

$25 could buy enough plaster bandage to cast 3 patients

We use plaster bandage to cast our patients to ensure their prosthetic limb is the perfect, comfortable fit for them.

$50 could buy materials to make 1 polycentric knee

We are very proud to be using the M1 polycentric knee – a lockable knee that gives patients flexibility and comfort. For $50, your donation could buy the materials to provide a patient with their new knee.

$125 could update our office computer

Our office equipment is a little rusty! Our office is crucial for spreading the word about the centre to low-income amputees across the country and for keeping patient records, amongst other things. For $125 we would be able to update our facilities.

$250 could buy material for 1 below-the-knee prosthetic leg

For $250 you could buy mobility and independence for a someone with a below-the-knee amputation.

$500 could buy material for 1 above-the-knee prosthetic leg

For $500 you could buy mobility and independence for a someone with an above-the-knee amputation. Their prosthetic limb would include a versatile lockable knee that makes the rehabilitation process easier and walking more comfortable.

$125,000 could buy a permanent building for the centre

We are currently renting our building. It is our dream to have a permanent building, to reduce our costs and have the reassurance that our project is more sustainable.

Other ways to donate – contact us

Our most pressing need is financial, but there are many ways to support our project.

Although we are trying to be as self-sufficient as possible by using only machines, materials and personnel from Bolivia we are still finding it nearly impossible to acquire the following material:

  • Hip joints
  • Prosthetic socks
  • Expulsion valves
  • Stainless steel nuts and bolts

If you want to send physical donations, such as the above material or prosthetic parts, either from yourself or your company, please first contact us and then we will give you more details on how best to get those items to us. We can work with the Bolivian embassy in your country to get the usual customs duties waived. Unfortunately we usually are unable to help with the cost of shipping, but we can recommend a relatively low cost courier (Courier Bolivia, in Arlington, VA) that will send packages to us for $8 per pound.  For small packages the USPS provides a fairly reasonable cost and reliable service to Bolivia.  Delivery usually takes about 2 weeks.

If you happen to be travelling to La Paz then perhaps you can bring us some of the physical donations we need.  Donations from other people/organizations in the US can be brought in your personal bag or carried on as extra luggage.  Lets us know and we will coordinate this and pay for your excessive baggage fees.

If you are ever in La Paz, please stop by to see our progress and perhaps even lend a hand. We would be happy to show you around. Send us an e-mail with any questions, ideas, referrals-anything that might further our cause.
